Analogue
The opposite to digital - meaning that the watch displays time by mechanically powered hands.
ATM
Meaning atmospheric pressure, which is corresponding to the water pressure on the watch. Few watches are made for 5 ATM - equal to 50 meter, or showers, short swims. We don't recommend diving with a Few watch; then at least 10-20 ATM is recommended.
Automatic movement
An automatic movement is powered without battery and charged by manual winding or kinetic energy. The movement is driven by a sophisticated and highly complex system, storing the energy by wrist movements.
Case
The case is the outer cover where the movement and other parts are mounted.
Crown
The crown is a button used for setting time and date.
Chronograph
A chronograph has timer functions, often used for measuring short time intervals.
Face
The watch face is the surface placed on top of the movement, displayng the movement functionality.
Jewels
Jewels are a syntethic stone used in mechanical movements to reduce friction and improve accuracy. Basically, the more jewels a watch have, the better ability to hold precision it has.
Mechanical watch
A mechanical watch is powered by movement (kinetic energy) or manual winding.
Movement
The movement is the heart of the watch, powering hands by either battery or stored kinetic energy.
Power reserve
The power reserve is the maximum time the movement can power the watch after being fully winded, or until the battery runs out.
Quartz
As the quartz crystal was introduced, it was very expensive, but also alot more accurate than the regular automatic movements. Today it's more or less a standard circuit in many watches.
Sapphire
The hardest glass type, only possible to scratch with a diamond.
Tachymeter
The tachymeter is used to measure speed.
